||PVA is sponsoring a community forum on the possible development of the tannery site.
On the City Council agenda for 4/10 is a proposal for the City to enter into an agreement with Caleb Development for construction of housing apartments on the former Tannery site. The informational items are available online as well as a summary on Brent Todd, Ward 1 City Councilor's website.
A public hearing on this matter will be held during City Council's 5/8/17 meeting. At that meeting, based on information and public testimony, the Council will decide whether or not to go forward with this project as outlined.
PVA is partnering with the City to get the word out and allow the developer and City's real estate agent to be present to assist with providing information and answering questions. The proposal calls for two buildings to be constructed with 54 1- and 2-bedroom apartments. Six of these units would be market rate, and the rest would be available to households earning 60% or less of the area household income (low-income housing). There is no retail or office space proposed as part of this development. The Report in the above link, written by Matt Walsh, provides a detailed overview.
