Penacook is a real place, with a sense of community. Its village center has interesting architecture, an appropriate scale, a variety of essential services, and a lot of people who care for it and for each other. This place feels like home!

Not that it doesn't have a few problems. There is an increasing level of traffic in the Village, and most of it is going too fast. We need to slow things down to make the area more pedestrian friendly. We need an ongoing maintenance program to keep these essential elements of the public infrastructure in good working order.

And of course we need a grocery store! This is one of the essential elements of a community , and our Village center is incomplete without it. And, finally, the Tannery. Until that site is vital and active again the core of our Village, the piece that explains our history and the very reason for the Village's existence is missing.

Specific Suggestions

Along Village Street
In Boudreau Square Keep the parking in front of the Pharmacy. Improve the sidewalks. Better align the streets. Slow the traffic down.
Adjacent to Fox's Develop these lots to accommodate parking. Install other infill development as the market permits.
At the Fibre Mill Business incubator sounds like a good idea. Maybe take some of it down.

Along East Street
Adjacent to Chief's Keep the parking here, but better define it. And landscape the area.
At Crescent Street Put a grocery store here. Keep it at a village scale, maybe 20,000 sf. Convert the remainder of this area to a riverfront park.
Corner of Walnut and East Streets Leave this area undeveloped, except maybe as a small gateway park at the Entrance to the Village.
